Dr. Aurora Thorgerson is a native of Zaragoza, Spain. She earned a B.A. in Foreign Languages Spanish and M.A. in Spanish Literatures from Auburn University and her Ph.D. in Philosophy and Romance Languages from the University of Georgia. She’s taught a variety of elementary and intermediate language courses as well as upper-division Spanish courses including Medical Spanish, Business Spanish, Spanish Peninsular Literature and Culture from Middle Ages to the Present, Fantasy and Magical Realism in the 20th Century, and Advanced Composition & Conversation.

According to Thorgerson, “Having been an English language student myself, I know that a welcoming atmosphere is the basis for embracing the challenging process of learning a foreign language and being receptive to a new culture.”

Beyond her love of teaching, she embraces every opportunity to travel and learn about new cultures. She has traveled all over Europe, Argentina, and the United States, as well as treasured visits to Canada, Turkey, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Brazil.

She has been teaching Maymester in Costa Rica since 2008 and she loves it. ¡Pura Vida!
